About us
Who We Are
Following in his father’s footsteps, his son, Juan Jr. continued with the family business, successfully expanding it until events which took place in 1959 forced a dramatic change. Years later, in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, Luis Cuevas Sr., Juan’s Jr.’s son, carried on the family tradition of handcrafting fine cigars in the family’s cigar factory, Tabacalera Las Lavas. Today, Luis Sr. is joined by his son, Luis Jr. in the manufacture and sale of premium, long filler cigars at their factory, Tabacalera Las Lavas, in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
So it is that, after decades of manufacturing premium cigars for notable brands, it was decided that the time had come to produce and market a high-end, premium cigar that would bear the Cuevas name.

The Casa Cuevas Connecticut Blend features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler. A mild to medium blend In strength with a subtle spice that will intrigue and capture today's cigar smokers.

The Casa Cuevas Habano blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. A Medium blend in strength with a present spice will keep the cigar aficionados coming back for more.

The Casa Cuevas Maduro blend is highlighted by a naturally fermented Mexican San Andres wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder and Colombian, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. A Maduro with immense sweetness, spice and incredible balance that is sure to please the most demanding of cigar smokers.

Cuevas Reserva Maduro
The Cuevas Reserva Maduro features a Mexican San Andres wrapper, a Dominican, Piloto Cubano binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan (Ometepe) fillers. It provides cigar enthusiasts with a full-flavor smoking experience in a perfectly balanced medium to full bodied cigar.

Cuevas Reserva Natural
The Cuevas Reserva Natural features a Havana binder with a mix of fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and the U.S.A., all wrapped in an Ecuadorean Connecticut wrapper. This cigar is described as a smooth smoke with nuanced earthy flavors.

Casa Cuevas “La Mandarria” - The Mandarria is our first full-bodied cigar. Wrapped in beautiful Ecuadorean Habano wrapper and featuring a pig tail and shaggy foot, full-body and full-strength cigar.

Our Factory in 3 Steps
- In part, our factory excels because of the wide range of tobacco from around the world at our disposal. In our blending process we use tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, the United States, and Indonesia, to name a few.
- Additionally, all of our cigars are draw-tested to ensure a smooth draw when smoked, and all of our product is frozen before shipping, eliminating any incident of beetles.
- Finally, we are ever present at our factory, attending to both employees and the ongoing processes that take place on a daily basis.
